THE CHURCH RESPONSE TOWARDS THE HOMOSEXUALITY
INTRODUCTION:
Homosexuality is the term which denotes the sex intercourse between the same being and the same type. As the world is becoming more and more advance there is also an increase in many sin which is against the teachings of the Bible. Homosexuality is one of them, where the Bible is against it. So, what should be our response as a Christian on homosexuality? The biblical mandates found in Ephesians 5 and 1 Corinthians 5–6 demand from the church three responses to homosexuality. We will see in brief on the four things which are mentioned in the above given text.
I. THE CHURCH MUST EXPOSE HOMOSEXUALITY AS A SIN AGAINST GOD.
Homosexuality is a sin against Almighty God. It is a wilful assault on the person and work of God. This is against the teaching of Jesus Christ. So the church should give awareness to the members about homosexuality. They must expose it as a sin in the sight of God. As we have found in I Timothy 1:8-11, it is against sound doctrine. Thus, as far as possible we should give awareness to them.
II. THE CHURCH MUST EXTEND THE GRACE OF GOD TO HOMOSEXUALS
Indeed, homosexuality is a sin against God, but it is also one of many sins against God, and it is a sin for which Christ died. This is a truth which the church must never forget. Believers are called upon by Christ to extend the grace of the cross to homosexuals, to assure them that God’s forgiveness, peace, and the hope of eternal life is available to them as well. If church is to be involved in bringing homosexuals into the fold of Christ it must be prepared to do the following.
-The church must first learn to show compassion to the homosexual.
-The church must be willing to associate with homosexuals.
-The church must have the conviction of the power of the gospel to convert the homosexual.
-The church should provide special discipleship for homosexuals.
-The church must effectively incorporate converted homosexuals into the Body of Christ.
III. THE CHURCH MUST EXPEL PRACTICING HOMOSEXUALS FROM THE FELLOWSHIP
The tidal wave of sexual immorality has invaded the church, and the church has done little or nothing to deal with the cancer within. Sexual immorality in all of its forms can be found in the church, ranging from divorce, people sleeping together, lewdness, and even homosexuality. As in Corinth, the church today must also deal with the immorality within.
-The church today is faced with the problem of moral compromise.
-The church must have the courage to confront the homosexual activist within & outside the church
-The church must have the conviction to practice excommunication on its own membership
CONCLUSION:
Thus in the conclusion what I want to mention is that as homosexuality is increasing in large number, the people especially the Christian should be careful about it. As a Christian we all know our role. We should be aware of it as it is against the will of God as mentioned earlier. So, if at any case homosexuality is happened to take place in the arena of the church, we should give counsel and try to give them awareness. But even after giving so many advices and teaching them the bad cause of homosexuality, if they happen to continue the church should disciplined them and should be excommunicated from the church. Because without taking any action, they will have the freedom to practice it more and more. Therefore, as a Christian we should try to know our role.
